Reflecting on the Berchmans Parenting Ignite Seminar

On September 13, 2024, St. Johannes Berchmans School hosted the Berchmans Parenting Ignite Seminar, a heartfelt gathering where parents came together to explore meaningful ways to nurture their children’s growth through the Ignatian spirit. The seminar provided a space for parents to reflect on their roles and responsibilities, offering new insights into fostering a loving and supportive home environment. At the heart of the event was a desire to strengthen family bonds while nurturing both parental and child development in a compassionate and purposeful way.

One of the highlights of the seminar was the enlightening talk by Pater Yohanes Harry Kristanto, SJ, whose insights deeply resonated with the attending families. Pater Yohanes spoke about the importance of empathy, patience, and understanding in parenting, emphasizing how these values align with the Ignatian principles of care and love. His guidance helped parents reflect on their parenting styles and offered practical ways to support their children’s emotional, mental, and spiritual growth. Families left the session feeling more connected, empowered to grow together with greater purpose.
Through discussions, sharing of experiences, and the valuable advice imparted by Pater Yohanes, the Berchmans Parenting Ignite Seminar fostered a nurturing environment that empowered not just the children, but the parents as well. The event served as a reminder that parenting is a continuous journey of learning and growing, and with the right tools, parents can create homes filled with compassion, understanding, and shared purpose. It was an event that left a lasting impact on everyone involved.
